Of Chinese Checkers and Chess
Simple man who climbs mountain
Of life, of youth this fountain
Is where waters flow today
His very need today for prays
Av-ante Garde this art he treasures
But Etch a Sketch is how he measures
To much too soon, too little late
Just like the prom for their big date
She's Perrier, his drawn from sink
Hers from glacier in thoughts he thinks
Out of class when given thought
Out to lunch, his lunch home brought
Inside his heart he's known great pain
Sometimes he wonders how one gains
Ground to feel that they belong
Where weakness is his only song
Don't mistake what really is
The real story that can't be his
Her in life that brings together
A ship at sea from storms its weathered
She is a rose, he's more dandelion
That's blown away and quickly dying
From what now seems can never be
It's best maybe for him to leave
Well enough for there shes been
Free from harm where happy grins
Where right as rain falls from blue skies
Where brown eyes kiss blue eyes goodbye
Of Chinese Checkers and of Chess
Of her first class and him much less
