To All Who gave Their Lives for you, me and their country. In ALL wars not just this one.
I Salute you and offer a moment of prayer on this Memorial Day 2010
This is for all parents, wifes, husbands, children, friends who have
answered that knock on the door. This is only written from my mind, my
feelings, my heart and not represent how anyone else feels about this War.
I am using a child as the scenerio in my thoughts, not leaving any of the
other casualties out.
The door bell rings
The day you so dreaded
so hoped would never come
is now in your face
Standing at attention
in their perfectly groomed
uniforms, straight faced
"We regret to Inform You"
"Your son was killed in
an ambush, on routine
patrol, by enemy snipers
If there is anything we can do..."
Your heart shatters
the world goes black
These no emotion robots
are telling you, your child
Is not coming home.
What do they know?
They do this everyday
It is their safe job
"To inform you"
They don't know your child
don't know the fears he felt as he
watched his buddies die beside him
In a War, controlled by a corrupt government
The most corrupt in the history
of the United States
In a place who didn't want him there
In a country, never to be repaired
In a War we will never win
You slowly sit down
trying to gather your thoughts
Oh my God! This can't be happening
But in your heart you know, it is
You now will wait
For the call,
when your child will
arrive, See him for the last time
You Pray, for the many who gave ALL
For those yet to come home
Alone
For the very last time
Yet you know
your child died a Hero
fighting for something
you didn't believe in
Because He believed
it was the right thing to do
in the beginning
He stood tall, proud, loved
to the end
"We regret to inform you"

Personal note: My heart, love and prayers to all who have had to hear this
message. I stand up and Salute all the brave men and women giving their
lives in Wars that should never have been. You will never be forgotten.
