His pause to glance upon mirror
A better day today though fear of
Is one ancient he knew and views
Before time came and youth took too
Posture His has given way
To lean forward no room to play
A balancing act to not fall down
A smile now more that looks like frown
He sees himself somewhat mature
Ignoring Grey time he's endured
The best is yet to come he says
With one last look he walks away
Long strides his steps have shrunk as well
As muscles too now spent too fell
Victim to age of silver now gold
But heart contrite did not get old
He still does love and misses her
His wife that passed in mind his stirs
A date their first where love would knock
This younger man out, out from his socks
Her soft angelic face once kissed
Her voice heaven and too his bliss
Would go with him unto his grave
To once again see love he craves
His clothes fit more like old pajamas
Suspenders stretched once brought drama
When this style like him was out
Back in the day stood tall and stout
His timepiece stopped still worn on wrist
Becomes one more of things on list
Forgets when family comes to spend
Their brief visit on some weekend
When old is all he has he'll say
He brings to mind what in him stays
A better day, when life was pure
Surviving now, alone endured
