Burnt Biscuits

A young man went searching...
for someone to share his life with.
Hoping to find a sweet girl...
someone who could cook
for he loved biscuits
and fried chicken.

 Boy was he let down
when she didn't know her way
 around a kitchen.

But he loved her anyway and
thought...  we'll get by for now
She just needs a little time...
She'll learn to cook and
 clean somehow.

One day he came home from work
and saw that she'd been cryin...
flour on her face and in her hair
 Lord... she had flour everywhere.

Standing there looking like a little girl
that had just taken a lickin.

She gently placed in front of him
 burnt biscuits and burnt chicken.
She'd worked so very hard all day
and couldn't understand
how it turned out that way.

 But that night
you ate every bite and
even ask for more
 just because
SHE fixed it.

From that day on...  Honey seemed a little sweeter
Even though they weren't perfect
you could taste the love...
 in every single biscuit.
