LIKE ME

You have your children
They mean the most
The days of wine and roses
Perhaps over
For the old folks
Who still dream
Of the wrinkles
On the faces
Of their contemporaries
Seeing more than one should see
Sometimes it is too much
So we touch each other
With words instead
As there is too much space
Between thee and thou
To really know how
A love should be
We just stay free
I sleep with my dogs
Or my grand girl
They are my world
Until you touch it
With your music
There I am 16 again
Hitch hiking to Oklahoma
With Texas
Only a touch away
I go there in my mind
Right now
To somehow
Tell you
How much it has meant to me
To be a part and quite
Light in the night
Shining for you
A light in the darkness
Is all I can ask for
To find the way
To God
Instead of Texas.
