The Spill
Some states along the North American coast are not too thrill
Their coastal waster as being subjected to and great oil spill
This well sought after energy source has now become a threat
Because one does not know the extent of its spreading effect
Do those companies not have in place any form of quality control?
To monitor their equipment so see which is worn or old
Being in salt water there should be that thought of reaction and erosion
So that there would be corrective measure when there is an indication.
There should be some sort of binding contract
That there should be bound tightly to some legal act
So that when there is some form of environmental destruction
The company will be responsible for all clean up and restoration.
This oil effluence demonstrates that man has not problem
In causing destruction in greed to any other ecosystem
But rest assured will react and quite lividly
If in some way his ecosystem was impacted negatively
In those places whose costal waters were so beautiful and pristine
Have been so contaminated and only black crude can be seen
Those marine creatures whose live in and enjoy the water of salt
Now lay dying as their gills with impurities are caulked
See that majestic pelican which spy that struggling fish
Eyes sparkling with glee as it sees something to relish
Then is swoop down with such accuracy and precision
Only to be trapped by the oily water and its pending destruction.
I am sure it hurts those who live on the once beautiful coast
Now seeing their reefs and once luxuriant coral now being made ghosts
An those who use the water and it marine life for sustainability
Have to look at this spreading black mass and it is so unsightly
It should be the responsibility to be offending company and it subsidiaries
To tackle the problem most urgently and as efficiently and effectively
So the longer they delay, the more they will have to pay
For the destruction, disruption, damage and displacement cause by the way
We all know accidents can happen and that is a given fact
But must stringent regulation need to be enact
Mandate that as specific time there should be some form of scrutiny
Reinforced by some regular impact study, so as to reduce any catastrophe.
