SAVOR THE SENSES
How can we deny the pleasure
that has been gifted us as humans
from the very dawn of our existence?
Would we truly have need for such sensual
sentience that is ours for the taking
without effort each and every day,
were it not for the wondrous diversity
in the world upon which we live?
To ignore the beauty around us,
would be tantamount to maligning
the One who created it…for us…
the magnificent senses we are
endowed with would be wasted…
Just think of it...
The simple act of opening one's eyes
every morning, seeing the sun's rays
streaming through the window,
dancing prisms of heaven's kiss
upon the walls…
Deeply inhaling and appreciating
the scents of spring flowers and trees
wafting on the wind, waking up the
imagination in a way that nothing
else is able to…
Listening to the myriad melodies
of an avian menagerie, tickling
the ears with their pure joyous
trills, heralding the commencement
of another day…
Reaching across and caressing the face
of the one you love, still warm from
sleep, touching, kissing each other awake,
feeling a sense of closeness that only
touch can bring…
Tasting the pleasantly bitter taste of
strong black coffee as your energy rises,
delighting in a delicious morning meal
prepared together with loving hands,
it seems even better…
Yes, we are gifted with the divine, the spiritual…
But ahh…each day I live I give thanks to the Creator
that I am so wonderfully made to simply savor all of His creation!
