My Heart Is Alive
To speak one's love
I wanted a way
But then I couldn't believe
I had nothing to say
I sat at my desk
for hours on end
And couldn't think of a way
For someone's heart to mend
I turned off my light
And crawled into bed
I tried to think of love
And to you my mind lead
I smiled at the thought
Of your sweetly deep voice
And reveled in the fact
That you had so much poise
I thought of the ways
You put a smile on my face
And how the mere thought of you
Makes my mind race
I blushed at the memory
Or our first long talk
And was filled with angst
At the thought of our first walk
I giggled at the notion
Of the nicknames you give me
And how your face
Is the only one I see
I turned on my light
And got out of bed
I wrote down this poem
Because of you-my heart is no longer
Dead
