 Not Holding On
Remembering the moments when we were close,
Thinking about that time when love was so easy.
That sweet flow from every breath of our being;
Gently wrapping me in tender arms, holding me.
Slowly dissolving, eroding like the sands of a beach;
Moving ever so slightly, just enough to change things.
Knowing that our moment has come, now it passes;
Passes into the humid darkness on a hot summer night.
Just like the foamy waters from the deep blue sea;
My hands are unable to contain the flow of nature.
Destiny blessed me with a moment on this wave;
Surfing out every ounce of joy; an exhilarating ride.
The seaside is empty now, I listen for your voice;
I hear only the rhythmic pounding of the sea's energy.
Walking alone, remembering with a nostalgic smile;
Cherishing what was, understanding what is; not holding on.

Woke up today with a nostalgic memory of a long ago love.
It still has beautiful echoes within my soul.
