The wilderness

The wilderness calls through the wind that is howling
as the shadows of night whisper close in my ear
‘rainbows are fairy tales written only for the lucky ones'
…and I am just another fool that believes all he hears
storms are still raging while the heavens raining fire
the land strong below me now trembles with rage
for all the long battles won bloody in anger…
for all of life's errors that this long life has made
whirlwinds and whirlpools still spin me round daily
leaving fragmented pieces of pictures that fall
the colour has gone from everything I used to know
now the wilderness sounds sweeter each new time she calls.
