THE ULTIMATE BEST DAD EVER!!!!
As I re-read
the pages of my life
there is one
constant absolute TRUTH
YOU were always there!
Even as a child
I felt safe in
the midst of turmoil,
I felt danger could harm me
but lacked the power
to destroy me.
I did not really know
YOU then,
but I felt YOUR PRESENCE
and though there were
many times I thought
I was alone
thinking back
I can honestly say
YOU were with me always...
Through foster homes
and other family members homes
to moving from our own
home to home -
with a father whom
I loved but never
loved me back
whose rejection became
a lifetime struggle
to be accepted
whose beatings
still hurt internally
even worse was
his sins against
me and my sister...
He's just a distant memory
that I pray for...
YOU have helped me LORD
to forgive him
and yet he still seeks not
THY FORGIVENESS nor mine....
his abuse no longer
directs my steps
YOUR LOVE DOES
For since the day
YOU revealed YOUR SALVATION PLAN
through JESUS DYING for my sins
YOU became the only DAD
this child will ever need
and I love YOU for eternity..
The hunger to be loved
and accepted
now has an overflow
and this poem could and does
go on forever...
I love YOU GOD
with all of my heart,
mind and soul!
