FRAILTY OF AGE

The bloom of youth has long been swept away.
Today we just accept the truth.
The fact that I, we, cannot do that
Which we expect of ourselves.

Sad though true is the frailty of age.
It need not be too old an age.
Sometimes the limits of our endurance were pushed.
Pushed beyond normal expectations
Today we have to accept this truth
We can no longer be the men and women we once were.

If, in this time, when our flesh is looser and flabbier
We retain a modicum of good health
Then all we need say is, THANK YOU GOD.
For all the good times you have given us.
