 Summer's Dawn (version two)
Working the night shift this week;
Driving home in the early morning.
Opening my soul to the moment;
Aware of breath, listening keenly.
Altering my state, descending the
Stairway from my head to my body.
Fully in tune with the moment at hand;
Reveling in another Summer's dawn.
The red sun rising in the eastern sky;
Bright colors on the earth's canopy.
Another day beginning, the birds sing;
Arriving, then slowly entering my home.
For a timeless moment, I stand awake;
Absorbed by the scene before me.
Awe and inspiration embrace my soul;
Reveling in another Summer's dawn.

The greatest blessing of working night
shift is the enjoyment of sunrise before
dropping off into a sweet, relaxing sleep.
