Poetic Verses
Nickname
When I was lad there was no way to restrain
The other guys from giving you a nickname
If at school you pronounce a word wrong
That was the nickname you will carry along.
If for any particular reason you became defiant and try to ignore
The name will be called many people and even more
Then in time may realize it was just a bit of fun
Common sense will tell you, that you will achieve when all is done
There will come that time when the attention shifts to the girls
When talking on occasions may slip in a few green verbs
Woe be ye when the other guys get wind of that
Another nickname is added to the pack
Tell me what has become of those day of fun and hilarity
Today I notice people getting offended if their names are called incorrectly
Getting angry, but never trying to understand but to quickly react
Not even thinking that the person could have a speech defect.
Even if there is an attempt today someone's grammar to correct
This to them may come over as a from of disrespect
So instead of trying to learn by listening to you attentively
You may be subjected to some harm and that will be physically.
Some people may say such things tend to lower their self esteem
So in the process now everything in alright it seems
Consider this that if one can be flustered and upset by something so insignificant
Imagine them trying to cope when matters and challenges are so abundant.
