Poetic Verses
The Uncontrollable Urge
Hands dry and cracking
from the washing that I bear,
I don't feel comfortable
when germs are everywhere.
I wash myself constantly
and the urge doesn't go away,
I cannot take the feeling
of germs that want to stay.
My hands feel rough and sore
and lotion doesn't do much,
my hands are looking gross
and feel scratchy to the touch.
My children complain to me
about the feeling of my skin,
I also double check everything
but in my life I cannot win.
I need to feel safe and secure
with myself to make it through,
OCD has been a life long problem
and it runs in my family too.
from the washing that I bear,
I don't feel comfortable
when germs are everywhere.
I wash myself constantly
and the urge doesn't go away,
I cannot take the feeling
of germs that want to stay.
My hands feel rough and sore
and lotion doesn't do much,
my hands are looking gross
and feel scratchy to the touch.
My children complain to me
about the feeling of my skin,
I also double check everything
but in my life I cannot win.
I need to feel safe and secure
with myself to make it through,
OCD has been a life long problem
and it runs in my family too.
