Poetic Verses
A Stranger to Remember
I walked up to you on the street
and you acted with surprise,
it was as if you didn't know me
the way you blinked your eyes.
I was the only one talking
and you just stared at me,
you tried hard to remember
not knowing who I claimed to be.
I didn't know what I should say
to help you to remember,
it was a memory of Christmas
when we first met in December.
You couldn't figure it out
and you seemed anxious to go,
you wanted to hurry and get away
from a stranger you didn't know.
I tried to help you remember me
and all the times that I'd known,
you were a young child back then
and after many years you'd grown.
I realized you didn't know me
after so many years gone by,
I was feeling a little embarrassed
when I smiled and waved goodbye.
and you acted with surprise,
it was as if you didn't know me
the way you blinked your eyes.
I was the only one talking
and you just stared at me,
you tried hard to remember
not knowing who I claimed to be.
I didn't know what I should say
to help you to remember,
it was a memory of Christmas
when we first met in December.
You couldn't figure it out
and you seemed anxious to go,
you wanted to hurry and get away
from a stranger you didn't know.
I tried to help you remember me
and all the times that I'd known,
you were a young child back then
and after many years you'd grown.
I realized you didn't know me
after so many years gone by,
I was feeling a little embarrassed
when I smiled and waved goodbye.
