Poetic Verses
Utah Law Protects Birds
A bird hit my windshield
and landed on the ground,
when I got out of my car
a struggling bird I found.
It couldn't be that bad
or that's what I thought,
then I saw a policeman
and I knew I was caught.
The highway stood still
as far as I could see,
there was a blank moment
where it was just me.
I was told I broke the law
and he went on to say,
on every Utah highway
birds have the right of way.
I was only given a warning
and they took the bird,
I was feeling a little weary
after all that I had heard.
I felt bad for the bird I hit
and I cried as I drove away,
I knew that it was my fault
and I hoped the bird was okay.
and landed on the ground,
when I got out of my car
a struggling bird I found.
It couldn't be that bad
or that's what I thought,
then I saw a policeman
and I knew I was caught.
The highway stood still
as far as I could see,
there was a blank moment
where it was just me.
I was told I broke the law
and he went on to say,
on every Utah highway
birds have the right of way.
I was only given a warning
and they took the bird,
I was feeling a little weary
after all that I had heard.
I felt bad for the bird I hit
and I cried as I drove away,
I knew that it was my fault
and I hoped the bird was okay.
