On a River of Fear

I'm on a small boat
where I feel much fear,
it doesn't help me
when I'm in the rear.

The boat takes me
slowly down river,
where I fearfully shake
and often times quiver.

I hide on this boat
from my chance at life,
I don't know much
when I avoid strife.

Through river rapids
I have lost my way,
fear has control
and it ruins may day.

I'm floating away
and I don't even try,
the fear holds on
while I scream and cry.

There is no escape
from the fear inside,
I struggle with it
on my own boat ride.

When fear is in charge
I'm not boating free,
I hold on for comfort
and the river scares me.

The boat is my place
where I'm safe alone,
the river is my fear
of the great unknown.
