Never Meant to Be
In silence we had met
without a word to say,
you went on with your life
and I walked the other way.
There were no real feelings
to cause a broken heart,
there was a little tension
and I wasn't very smart.
I never understood you
nor the life you live,
you were getting tired
of all the gifts I'd give.
It made no sense at all
before when we would talk,
I don't know the real you
and I was quick to walk.
Nothing about those days
are good memories to keep,
you haunt my dreams at night
when I try to get to sleep.
We both agree on something
and that would have to be,
there was never truly a time
when you were meant for me.
