My Great Montana Escape

In the fresh Montana air
I've come to get away,
up where the bears roam
and the deer seem to play.

I have come to our cabin
in the woods to be alone,
no one can bother me
when there is no telephone.

I feel much peace inside
as I listen to nature's sound,
outside in the open air
true freedom has been found.

Here I've come to escape
and I hope that it will last,
I've come and gone before
many times in the past.

I awaken many memories
when I come to explore,
my great great grandparents
homesteaded here before.

In the fields I enjoy a walk
and look up at the sky,
there are all kinds of birds
and I like to watch them fly.

I walk to the river side
and watch the waters flow,
it is the best way to escape
the realities of life I know.
