Poetic Verses

Be Prepared to Enter

The story of the ten virgins
will make you more aware,
of the kingdom of heaven
and how to make it there.

They carried their lamps
as the bridegroom was sought,
five of the virgins were wise
and the other five were not.

Each individual represents
a special trait they show,
the wise will gain eternal life
and the foolish do not know.

The wise in their ways are
Christ-like and forgiving,
repentance is among them
with charity and righteous living.

Temple work and ordinances
truth, knowledge and light,
these traits are of the wise
and they are in God's sight.

The foolish are of the world
with unrighteous power and pride,
dark works, addictions and sins
all these pleasures that are inside.

Don't forget vanity and riches
are among the foolish too,
there's one that worships idols
and the foolish aren't very true.

When the bridegroom came
the foolish could not prepare,
they had no oil for their lamps
and the wise weren't able to share.

By the time they returned with oil
the wise were already inside,
the wise virgins were greeted
and the foolish were denied.

Watch, for nobody really knows
when the Son of man will appear,
it's best to be prepared in life
than to hurry when time is near.
