Poetic Verses

Lord, Save Me

Jesus went to His disciples
walking on the mighty sea,
for they were on a ship
where he knew they would be.

They saw Him walk on water
and they began to fear,
they thought He was a spirit
and were troubled as He got near.

Jesus spoke to the men
and said, "Be of good cheer,"
He said that it was only Him
and there was nothing to fear.

Peter answered to Jesus,
"Lord, if it be thou,
have me come unto thee
on the water right now."

Jesus told him to come
and Peter came off the ship,
he walked on the water
and thought he might slip.

Peter saw the wind boisterous
and was very much afraid,
he began to sink in the water
and he wished that he'd stayed.

He cried out, "Save me"
and Jesus stretched out his hand,
He caught him immediately
and helped him to stand.

Jesus said, "Thou of little faith
wherefore didst thou doubt?"
when he was back on the ship
the wind stopped blowing about.
