Chewing Gum

I found some chewing gum
outside on the ground,
I put the gum in my mouth
then stopped to look around.

I didn't want anybody to see
the gum that I had found,
I tried to blow a bubble
and make a popping sound.

I want to thank the person
that left the gum right there,
it made me feel so happy
that I decided I would share.

I looked around for a friend
while chewing on my find,
I stretched the gum apart
with hopes of being kind.

I gave it to my new friend,
he gave me a strange look,
he was busy at the time
reading a story book.

When he finished reading
he then became aware ,
he said, "That's just gross!"
and threw it at me there.

At first I felt rather hurt
that he wouldn't chew my gum,
I thought, "I'm not gross!"
when I tried to offer some.

The gum wasn't in a package
nor was it at the store,
it was stretchy on the ground
and I sat and wished for more.
