OLD PHOTOGRAPHSUncle Ray and Auntie Maxine A railroad conductor was he But more important A surrogate Father to me No more important man in my life you see He knew what it was like not to have a father He was raised in "Boys Town!" A movie but a real place in history He never forgot his sister Who was sent to live in orphanages She was my mother Of age and released he came and got her So you see how important he could be At a creek he taught me to fish Then he said it is time to clean the fish A boy of eight it was a test of manhood No reality was I cried For Christmas I got a real Indian bow and arrow My step dad broke the arrows over his knee In the photos a second important man to me But then he is in the second photo Uncle Ray and Aunt Maxine just pictures today Not on the day the picture was taken they were in my world unforgettable To be continued these photos: Christmas day 1948 Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
