Marital Pain
I felt the pain and misery
you brought into my life,
I was badly hurt
I didn't want to stay your wife.
I needed an escape
to be free of your love,
I even hoped for angels
while praying to God above.
Where was that someone
who could free me from this pain?
the longer I felt trapped with you
my heart began to strain.
I hated it when you'd hit me,
so much heart break and fear,
without remorse you had a fit
I wanted so badly to disappear.
How could it have been love?
you hurt me in many ways,
I faced such awful abuse
you had me crying for days.
When I finally left your side
my life became anew,
I went through the healing process
leaving you was right to do.
