Poetic Verses

The Unwritten Poem

At a young age in school
I thought poetry was a bore,
while the teacher taught us
I stared blankly at the floor.

Deep in thought I sat there
and didn't speak a word,
I tried not to fall asleep
when the teacher was heard.

I looked around the room
while others were so busy,
they wrote their poems just fine,
my excuse, well I felt dizzy.

I didn't write a complete poem
while I was daydream sittin'
I didn't get the best grade, since
no free verse or rhyme was written

Now that those days have passed
poetry is no longer ignored,
I regret not learning to write
back then when I was bored.
