SWEETNESS WITH AN EDGE
Lemonade is refreshingly sweet,
but the bitterness of the lemon gives it the edge.
Childhood memories are remembered so sweetly,
but the rough times of growing up gives it the edge.
Friendships new and old are treasured in your heart so sweet,
but the arguments and disagreements gives them the edge.
Lovers who love you for all that you are, nothing more sweet,
but jealousy, mistrust and anger give love the edge.
People you meet may seem nothing but sweet,
but you really don't know them if you can't see their edge.
Living, loving in this life should be nothing but sweet,
but if you don't have the hurt, sadness there is no edge.
We all need to have the bitter like the lemon for that edge
So that the lives we are living will be all the more sweet!!!
