Mistaken Phone Call

A phone call of confusion,
with nastiness no good,
a test of pure innocence,
an affair? I never could.

My number was on her phone,
and she asked how it got there,
"I don't know" was my reply,
for I was simply not aware.

She rudely asked me "Why?"
and "Who the heck is this?"
I thought she must be kidding
but she was serious.

False thoughts of an affair,
phone caller's own debate,
simple questions asked of me,
figured out too late.

I didn't know what to do
when rudeness was shown,
her words were getting meaner
and her temper had grown.

She swore at me in anger
until I hung up the phone,
the mean tone of her voice
wouldn't leave me alone.

Emptiness filled my mind
as I sat there in shock,
I didn't do anything wrong
and I could barely talk.

I found out shortly after
who it was that accused me,
my Son's Friend's Mother,
had gotten upset easily.

My Son wanted to eat over,
so he called me on her phone,
my number was then left there
as a caller that was unknown.
