'Twas Time For Bed

'Twas Time For Bed
Twas a school night and my children weren't in bed,
all because they wouldn't mind me or hear a thing I said.

It was me all alone without a supportive spouse
and all kinds of fighting was going on in the house.
I did the best that I could but it wasn't good enough,
my children were hyper, Taking care of them was rough.

Me in my nightwear, all ready for bed
while visions of peace and sleep danced in my head.
The children were wild, doing whatever they wanted,
the guilt of not being in control really haunted.

I stomped through the house raising my voice
"go to bed now, I give you no choice"
"Off to bed, Off to bed, Off to bed now"
"or you will be forced to bed," but I don't know how?

It was getting late, they needed to be in bed
Oh, how I wished they would mind me instead.
My Job it was rough, being the Mother and all
I finally threatened to give grandpa a call.

After I tried to punish them with a frown
I reminded them of school but it didn't calm them down
"For they would have to get out of bed pretty soon
to get ready for school, they can't sleep til noon.

The children were soon tired so we all went to bed
now in the home it was quiet instead.
with all in their beds everything was alright
Sleep now for all, and for all a good night.
