LET ME FLY
Please do not ask
that I stop being me;
don't set me in chains
I need to be free
To be the free spirit
you say that you love
to follow my bliss
and be a part of
the adventure of life
God grants to us all
the freedom to choose,
the freedom to fall
This is who I am
there is little I fear;
independent and strong
I've been through the years
I need to be cared for
and want to be loved
but must be who I am
if push comes to shove
So tell me you love me
and tell me you care
you can worry and fret
and always be there
But please, I beg of you
don't box me in
don't try to change me
‘cause neither will win
And as my true promise
I will do my best
to not try to change you
of this I'll attest
I'll love and support you
in all that you choose
Let's fly now, together -
we've nothing to lose
