The World Cup
It had to be a moment of joy and celebration in South Africa
Being host to world Cup football under the auspices of FIFA
Imaging players from all quarters of the world's continents
All gathered to display some of the greatest skills and talents
Some countries standards of play have improved and so surprises were sprung
As some of the prior cups regulars, had their hope dashed to the ground
There were some refereeing errors, but when all is said and done
Did that really made a difference to some of the outcome? Also the ball is round.
There were many who were disappointed as they had Brazil as the victors
I was not that convinced as I watched as this was to me an important factor
Over the years and on many occasions it conceded a goal to weaker opponents
So that anytime it encountered one that was stronger, the score line will be different.
Argentine and German I thought this will be the greatest attracter
But was let down as it turned out to be a total disappointer
Out classed by Germany, Argentina looked like something to pity
Beaten so badly into humility, then had to pack its gear and leave the city.
Germany against the Netherlands , this was different situation
It somehow seem to have to have lose that goal scoring combination
Then the Netherlands scored and made sure it was in the final two
But it still had to wait until another game to find out who.
Then there was this game between Uruguay and Spain for that final spot
It was competitive an Former colony and master , so blood will run hot
Even though they try to contain the ploys of Spain in the game
But the experience and good planning worked for Spain.
Let me say I was surprise that I up to now would still remain
Because in my pick for the final I never thought it would be Spain
Even though I was not able to see the game, when all is said and done
It scored that goal , that is what the winner and winning is based upon.
Even throughout the series there were some errors for sure
This should now hasten the use of the back up technology to be use more
But those officials would only see the play at that moment in fast action
So one should not come down too hard on them , we are all human.
