 Bridges
Reaching back into my past, I see the desolation;
Like the smoldering battlefield the morning after.
Bridges destroyed, burned, smoke rising, isolation;
No longer connected to the outside world of love.
Hopeless and lonely, the battles filth covering me;
My eyes desperately seeking life, needing bridges.
Self imprisoned for most of my life due to fear;
My jail cell was broken open by the light of love.
Freedom sings her song, resonating from my soul;
Bridges have been rebuilt, and many more as well.
Isolation and fear are nothing but an early death;
Becoming real, viable, a force of love in the earth.
Now I'm reaching out into the world of loneliness;
Embracing another hungry soul, giving freely my love.
Sometimes fooled, occasionally burned, who cares…
I am never discouraged; my life is enhanced by most.
My eyes search you out, seeking friendship and love;
Always constructing new bridges to reach all humanity.
