 Was Not So Long Ago
Time has a way of healing, everyone
has their moment

Love can cut and leave wounds unseen upon a soul
that contains them, they hurt but one deals

This is the story of us who journeyed through
life always coming up short

How unfair it can be to be born with sentiment

If you're weak, it eats away at you like a cancer
unforgiving and you wither away

If you're strong, it makes you who you are today
independent, mindful, and assertive

You know your true wealth and it shows

You became the conqueror and not the conquered
of affairs of the heart

Was not so long ago we were there just being,
not living, and life became just another motion
to go through, breathing was an exercise in futility

I owe more than a debt of gratitude to her
I've come to love without doubt and fear
for she makes it so easy

Was not so long ago this came to be
and I am blessed, for Fairytales do come true
