 Peace Be With You

Life can sometimes assail me with it's tests and trials;
The winds blow, the storm pounds, lightning strikes.
This tornado twists and distorts my perception;
Feeling I am being torn apart, pulled from every side.
Destruction seems to be certain without some relief;
My sails are ripped asunder, my ship is run aground.

Sitting with my head down, bloodied by the battle,
As the smoke rises from the world I once knew.
Pain and sadness... I look out into the war zone,
Seeing where my security once was, now it smolders.
A pity party from my brain descends on my soul;
Tears roll down my dirty cheek, disappointment reigns.

Kicked to the curb along with yesterday's rubbish;
My energy evaporates under the scorching noonday sun.
"Woe is me"  cries out my very essence from my depths;
As I now reach the bottom of the pit dug to entrap me.
I look up to heaven, hoping to see, wishing to believe;
Hearing the voice quietly speaking, "Peace be with you."

The dark clouds part, sunshine pours in to the gloom;
Warmth and healing surge from the depths of my soul.
This battle has passed, yet the war will rage all my life;
Victory is mine, even with all the losses, victory is mine!
Rebuilding until the next battle, as my hope has returned;
Now knowing my security is never built with human hands.

Remember, my friend, no matter where you are in your life;
Listen to that quiet voice speaking, "Peace be with you."
