Chain of fate

The chain of fate held firm its grip
neither storms nor floods could change
the road I've walked regret laid deep
…each footstep laced with pain.
Courage always finds a place
…fear always captures the night
bright lights and red lights, constant dilemmas
no choice to do what is right.
Pulled forwards and backwards, twisted and turned
left out in the wilderness to die
no point in crying or wishing life different
nor wishing that this life's a lie.
The road that I walk lay out before me
no real choice was ever to be
I just follow the footsteps fate once decreed
only the journey was ever meant for me.
