 Pages Of A Woman's Soul

Peggys Cove Lighthouse, Nova Scotia, Canada Pictures, Images and Photos

Walking silently along the rocky coastline
I feel a distant pull, like a tidal current,
carrying me back to summers of long ago
before the world became
before I understood
what responsibility even was…
That moment in time didn't last long –
once past a certain age,
nothing seemed carefree
I was just a girl, but
was pushed by the tides
of necessity within my family
to become more adult than kid…
a surrogate mother of sorts, though,
how good I was at it remains a
question in my mind…

Listening to the breakers
crash rhythmically,
peace descends
and the past
no longer

As I leave my footprints
along the shore, I take with me
absolution and a sense of grace within

All that's left is the beauty
that I missed as a child and I am
grateful for the eyes of the
woman I have become,
the one who sees
the truth,
the one who loves
herself, but
more so,

life itself.
