YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE Walk upon a beach without finding a sea shell Go out in the rain without getting wet Ideally all romantic collisions should be sweet A perfect joy to ever have met But often we don't escape unscathed Bruised and battered and ready to quit Though there will be someone out there for us all An idyll, a supremely perfect fit At the wrong times in our life we don't consider That we are seeking an impossible dream The person whose name we have tattooed on our heart Appears to be what they don't always seem The Mr Handsome or Miss Gorgeous we throw our love to Are usually way off our personal navigational map Water dowsing without stick for prediction Setting a trail for a relationship trap Suddenly, when least expected, the mist lifts Everything we wished and hoped for is in our sight The cliff edges, the winding paths and the heartaches Are totally forgotten, when real love wins the fight Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem |
