SHAKESPEARE FALLEN – PART II
Though his mind rejected it
His heart sent up a prayer
He opened his eyes slowly
Fearful he'd see her there
Afraid for her to see him
What his vanity had cost
But the woman there before him
Was not the one he'd lost
Breathing in a tortured sigh
He closed his eyes once more
Thinking he must have gone mad
Pulled shut remembrance's door
But thoughts of her he could not bar
From hallowed burial grounds -
The silent heart where muses lay
New words now somehow found
At first, he muttered to himself
In low incessant tones
But inspiration grasped him tight
And inside his being groaned
Words had been his nemesis
Since the day she'd not come home
The last words he had hurled at her
Had caused her heart to roam
He'd always been a bard you see
Using pen with arrogance
It carried over to their life
Where it lost its eloquence
Now his mind had fully snapped
He was back there in his mind
Moralizing down to her
Leaving reason far behind…
To be continued…
