 The Dance
Harried russet fox,
trots through the forest.
Stops for a moment
Under the sky…

Feels the warm rabbit
That dances nearby.

Anxious the wild fox
Lifts up her muzzle
Listening, scenting
Under the sky…

Knows the warm rabbit
Now dancing nearby.

Cautious this red fox
Watches the brush move
Hears the faint motion
Under the sky…

Wants the warm rabbit
Who dances nearby.

Suddenly noises
Quick from the forest
Galloping hunters
Under the sky…

Startle the rabbit
From dancing nearby.

Onward the fox runs
Kept from her pleasure
Frantically rushing
Under the sky…

Passes the rabbit
Still dancing nearby.
