How I Wish
Fatigued a bit but my heart races
In this marathon of sentiment
It knows no better nor does it care to
As time dictates the rules of engagement
I hunger again as the clock ticks away
the many weeks without her to feed upon
She is my staple of choice, too far to dine
in or out with and so we settle
knowing very well we eat alone again this night
How I wish to have in hands her I long for
greatly missed as loneliness gradually cuts
another piece of bliss served but not upon
my plate
The words become fewer as we grow weaker
and sleep awaits, alone again
becomes the night cap of our evening
I fight to stay awake but to no avail
as my mind has given way to the body
How cold it has become since we last spoke
and how I wish to be at peace
How I wish to be one with her
