Unspoken questions

Unspoken questions left quiet, unanswered
memories rewritten of all that was true
no longer wanting to hold on to so much
…for answers I'm left with know nothing of truth
knowledge hard won, forever left wanting
so much that needs learning… but so little time
wondering around without love to console me
searching for stardust while waiting in line
dark shadows linger behind pictures of triumph
tears have wiped clean the bright colours within
intellect born but no advantage was taken
conscience was mine alone, draped always in sin
redemption a thought, but heaven so far away
the true light that shines… I've never seen
prayer just a wish list for mankind's eternal greed
never knowing which disguise is hiding in me
sleep rarely comes, the dark is mine to fear
only the wilderness will echo my screams
for all of the questions that lay silent, unanswered
and answers that were just never meant to be.
