EASTER BONNET

IT WAS A FEW DAYS BEFORE EASTER
BABY-- SITTING ON THE FLOOR
PLAYING WITH HER LITTLE DOLL,
PULL-UP PANTS IS ALL SHE WORE

SHE SPIED A BOX UPON A CHAIR,
SHE CRAWLED , TO LOOK INSIDE
THERE WAS MOMMYS EASTER HAT
WITH FLOWERS ON A BRIM SO WIDE.

SHE PUT IT ON HAPHAZARDLY
IT MADE HER FEEL SO CUTE,
'TIL MOMMY SAW WHAT SHE HAD DONE,
HAD TO LAUGH, GAVE A HUG AND KISS, TO BOOT.
