GRANDMAS  TRUNK

GRANDMAS TRUNK IS A HUNS OLD.
MY MOTHER GAVE IT TO ME
I KEPT SOME TREASURES IN IT THERE,
WHERE NO ONE ELSE COULD SEE.

MY WEDDING GOWN AND PICTURE BOOK
BABY SHOES AND CHRISTENING DRESS.
AN ENVELOPE WITH MY BABY CURLS,
MY MOTHER TRIED TO PRESS

LOVE LETTERS, FROM AN OLD BEAU
TIED WITH PINK RIBBONS BY ME.
MY HUBBY LET ME KEEP THEM ALL,
HE KNEW THEY WERE JUST OLD MEMORIES.

I'VE ADDED TO THE MEMORIES I HOLD ,
BABY SHOES AND SUCH
ALBUMS FROM SCHOOL AND ACTIVITIES
THEY NO LONGER LOOK AT TOO MUCH.

SOME PRETTY STONES, FROM THE BEACH,
A FAVORITE TOY OR TWO.
WHEN I AM GONE,THAT WILL STILL BE THERE
I WONDER WHAT MY KIDS WILL DO?

IT REALLY WILL NOT MATTER THEN
THE MEMORIES WILL ALL BE GONE,
BECAUSE I WILL TAKE THEM WITH ME
EACH AND EVERY ONE.
