CHILDHOOD RELIVED
If I could live my life again,
Go back to days of youth
There's only one thing I would do
I tell you now in truth
It would not be to change the past
in any way but one –
to meet you as a little girl
and join you in your fun
Now I know that it may sound odd
to only ask for this
but if we had met as children
I'd already have my wish
You'd pull me in your wagon,
we'd blow bubbles to the sky
rock upon the teeter-totter
and together kites we'd fly
You would have walked me home from school
my Knight extraordinaire
protected me from bullies' taunts,
not let them pull my hair
Then our first dance in junior high,
an awkward time at best
but as we laugh and carry on
we'd outshine all the rest
Throughout high school, our bond would grow
best friends and confidantes
No jock would turn my head from you,
for you, no debutante
Sweethearts we'd be from childhood on,
your company a must
Love would fill those happy times
and in God we would trust
to see us through the rest of life
Yes, this would be my wish -
to have shared these times in youth
and together reminisce
