Poetic-Verses from ATHANASE
Non, je ne veux pas chanter l'éloge (English)
No I Won't Sing In Praise
To Norton Hodges
Norton, my friend, you know
There's no point in darkness trying
To lull my soul into complicity
With its sweet caresses!
My soul is too familiar with the beauty
Of infinite light
Because I've been tasting its wonderful gifts
Ever since my fortunate childhood blessed with love!
I've heard the song of the seraphim
Floating in the transparent air
Of my young nights
I've drunk cool breezes with delight,
I've clutched to my heart the Faith
With the shining face!
No, Norton, my Friend,
I can't, I won't
Sing in praise
Of nothingness!
