E minor, A minor
Instrument responds to my will
Depressive yet expressive
Eyes closed…. run scores until
Chorded harmonies expand
Pay compliment to melody's aim
O listen to these weeping tones
This song becomes my refrain
E minor A minor
Striking heart-keys within me
O play again for my reprise
Fingers delicately run to the C
Anyone that plays piano (or other instrument) will know the minor chords are inherently depressed in tone…..and in my opinion hauntingly beautiful. Just lower by the third, or half step, and it's a more somber sound.
If I technically knew how to record and upload to some kind of on line file, I would add an original piano composition I wrote to accompany this poem. If someday I figure out how to add recordings of my own, I'll revisit this write.
