The Arrival Of Death and Co
(This is an Acrostic type poem)
The winter sun sits balzingly in the blank sky to day, but there is something brewing...
Here in this mind of mixed up emotions, as she stares out through her plate glass prison
Everything is tarnished with frost, like a dead bell with no chime, there in no sound -
As she stares into the frosty fens at the trees like dead skeletons their arms stretched open
Recalling happiness of summer time, of love and fulfillment, all now perished and gone -
Receded into her loneliness as the light reflects on these white walls, where only memories hang
Inviting loved ones faces and smiles from long ago, affirming the Resurrection by candle light
Vexed now by the shadows that haunt her beguilingly, tantalizing and appealing to her soul
Alone she ponders before the fire light in the darkness recalling happy times, summoning lovers
Loneliness is but a curse so rife it bites to the bitter bone in this world of hers, she ponders
Of this world she has nobody, no kinfolk, only winter and the cold to wrap around her soul
Fear of living this life into old age beckons her, a contradiction between life and death, which?
Death now resides besides her day after day hour after hour as she sits watching the flames
Enhance their tango of delight before her, within the darkness of the room she sits
Aftermath she knows now what has to be taken in hand, away from life this existence
The plan is aligned, no need to water the flowers, for te snow will soon soak this place
Her mixture of herbs handed down from generation is like an Ionion secret -death knell in waiting
And ready she drinks the elixir with one full swoop and waits for Death and Co to arrive
Nauseating, perplexing she sits by the dancing flames watching their tango of death and delight
Dreaming of the lovers, and friends she will see again, that she so missed in her lonely life
Come with us my sweet angel take my hand,' said a voice as she was lifted from the chair
Onward towards the light she feels happiness and at long last fulfilled and revitalized.
