For Ghuey

Tibetan
Long-toothed lion
who guards my holy temple.
Licks away
all my pincushion hurts.
Little fellow in furred pantaloons
Chortles late night secrets
gazing up intently
golden-eyed like the moon.
Some think his feline heart
cool and non-descript.
But I feel his heart is full,
steadfast, divinely equipped.
I have found a tireless friend.
His devotion may seem small,
but his devotion never ends.
I've earned a friendship for only being,
its nightly renewed.
We take each other
exactly as we are.
A gift silver shining
a dream of pure light
twinkling star child
you are my delight.

a work in progress.
