Poetic Verses
Product of Battering
When she appeared her face was puffed and bloodied
The beatings were such that the swellings obscured her beauty
People all wondered why she endured such brutality
Because by the looks of thing they were inflicted regularly
Was it for the sake of the children she so seemingly willingly
Allow herself to slapped and punched so mercilessly
Only someone of stupidity, or of such great tolerance
Could sit and absorb such an abusive experience
Many of her peers tried in vain to convince her
To take the children and seek refuge in a shelter
But nothing they said appeared not to matter
As she most devotedly went home to get batter
Time went by and passed into years
Feeling dominate he continued in his battering ways
Then children now grown men and women
His ways had made him looked like a stranger to them
It was a very cold night in December
He came home very angry and with a foul temper
The house as usual was very neat and clean
But neither wife nor children could be seen
He stormed through the house even angrier than before
Opening and closing each and every door
On a table illuminated by candle light so dim
He espied and envelope and this was addressed to him..
He reached for it and with trembling hand opened it gently
The handwriting was so legible and so beautiful
His controlling way never allow him to see that aspect of his spouse
Seeing the contents was what made his greatest fear arouse
“My dear no matter what I do and this is true
It was never good enough for you
You have battered my body, mind, self-esteem and mind
Yet I stuck it out all this long time
My reason was for you to form a relationship with your children
But you ego and arrogance sent that into oblivion
Did you ever notice the hurt, pain and fear in they eyes
You they have now come to despise, so now it is time to say our goodbyes.
