Grandma went back to Heaven

Grandma went back to heaven, she only stayed awhile
I knew she was an angel every since I was a child
There was heaven in her touch, heaven in her embrace
Kindness in her spirit, the love of God on her face
So peculiar  were the words I'd hear Grandma say
“I must work the works of Him who sent me while it is day”
And work the works she did all the way until her death
I believe she even praised the Lord with her last breath
She never wasted the opportunity to share the Gospel of truth
She'd say “do you know Him? you need to know Him even in your youth”
I remember Grandmas' cooking, everything was home made
And helping her collect the eggs her chickens and geese had laid
I can picture her in her garden with her funny hat on
Tending carefully to her harvest as she sang her favorite song
“Jesus on the main line, tell Him what you want
Jesus on the main line, tell Him want you want
Call Him up and tell Him what you want”
Even while she cooked she would sing her songs
On T.V. Little house on the Prairie or the Waltons would be on
Everything that Grandma did, she did it Gods way
The whole house could feel His spirit when she would kneel to pray
I thank God for a praying Grandma for where would our families be
I thank God for the prayer Grandma prayed for me
And when grandma went back to heaven my heart felt the pain
But my soul rejoices in the fact that the gift of prayer remains
In everything that Grandma said, and all that she did show
I know that where Grandma went, I will one day Go
